We teach money in plain language, so we'll explain how we handle your data the same way. No burying things in legalese. No tricks in paragraph 47. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we'll never do with it.
We never sell your data
Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone. Ever. That's a promise, not a preference.
We collect the minimum
Only what we need to run your account and teach you well. We don't hoard data "just in case."
You stay in control
See it, download it, delete it. Your data has an exit door, and we'll show you where it is.
What we collect
When you create a Laertex account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored encrypted, we can't read it, and neither can anyone else). If you buy a course, our payment processor handles your card details; we never see or store your full card number.
As you learn, we keep track of your course progress, quiz results, and saved lessons so you can pick up where you left off. We also collect basic technical information, like your browser type and rough region, to keep the site fast and secure.
One thing worth saying clearly: Laertex is a financial education platform. We never ask for, and never want, your bank logins, account numbers, or investment details. If anything claiming to be Laertex ever asks for those, it isn't us, please report it.

We know your name, your email, and how far you've gotten in your courses. We don't know your bank balance, and we like it that way.
How we use it
We use your information to do exactly four things: run your account (logging in, saving progress, sending receipts), improve our teaching (if 80% of students get a quiz question wrong, we fix the lesson, not the students), keep the platform secure (spotting suspicious logins before they become problems), and send you things you asked for, like our newsletter or course updates.
Every marketing email we send has a working unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and we stop. No "are you sure?" surveys, no seven-day processing period.

Your data helps us run the site and teach better. It doesn't feed an ad machine.
What we never do
Most privacy policies bury this part. We're putting it in the biggest box on the page.
We never sell your personal data. Not anonymized, not aggregated, not "with trusted partners." Never.
We never ask for your financial account details. No bank logins, no brokerage credentials, no account numbers.
We never share your learning history with employers, lenders, or anyone else. What you study here is your business.
We never make deleting your account hard. It's a button in your settings, and it works.
We never change this policy quietly. Meaningful changes come with an email and a plain-English summary of what's different.
How we protect it
Everything you send to Laertex travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) the same standard your bank uses. Your data is encrypted at rest on our servers, passwords are hashed so no human can read them, and access inside our team works on a need-to-know basis: the person answering your support email can't browse your quiz scores for fun.
We run regular security reviews and keep our software patched. And because honesty is the whole brand: no company can promise perfect security, anyone who does is selling something. What we promise is serious protection, fast response, and telling you promptly and plainly if something ever goes wrong that affects you.

Your data is locked up tight, few people hold keys, and if there's ever a problem, you'll hear it from us first, in words you can understand.
Your rights
No matter where you live, we give you the same set of controls. You can see the data we hold about you, download a copy to take with you, correct anything that's wrong, and delete your account and data entirely. Depending on your location (for example under GDPR in Europe or CCPA in California), some of these are also your legal rights, we honor them for everyone anyway, because it's the right way to operate.
To use any of these, email us or use the buttons in your account settings. We respond within 30 days, usually much faster, and we'll never charge you for it or make you jump through hoops.

It's your data. Look at it, take it, fix it, or erase it, whenever you want.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your personal information within 30 days, except for the small pieces the law requires us to keep longer (like purchase records for tax purposes — typically up to 7 years, stored securely and touched by no one).
Inactive account? If you haven't logged in for two years, we'll email you before doing anything. No silent purges, no surprises.

Delete your account and your data goes with it, except a few receipts the tax office makes us keep.
When this policy changes
If we make a change that meaningfully affects your privacy, we'll email you before it takes effect with a plain-English summary of what changed and why. Minor tweaks (fixing a typo, clarifying wording) get noted in the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We keep old versions available on request, so you can always see what changed.
